I've been busy sewing and taking photos for Me-Made-March '11, but I'm going to write quick posts for a couple of unblogged items that I wore for Me-Made-March '11.
I really liked this $10 mini-dress. It was just getting uncomfortably revealing with the plunging neckline and getting-shorter-with every-wash hemline. Since I liked the bottom part best, I decided to turn it into a skirt which ends just above the knee. I find knee-length skirts both comfortable and flattering.
It was a quick and simple process of chopping off bodice (with about an inch left), serging the raw bodice edges, turning that inside and sewing it onto the skirt. The narrow piece of elastic that I left at the waist seam as well as the stretchy yet stable cotton fabric meant I didn't need a zip.
I will wear this skirt again with a top my dear FH made. Stay-tuned!
